NSX Fiesta Lemans 2013 meeting report
What an EPIC weekend, that’s the best way to describe the NSX Club Europe Lemans meeting of 2013. It goes without saying this is a meeting that we can hopefully have every year at a different venue across Europe. In total we had 17 cars attending which is a good score seeing it’s quite hard to get European owners together, due to distance, vacations etc etc. The group that was there had various nationality’s, Dutch, Belgium, French, English, Swiss and last but not least Norwegian. Traveling to the meeting in Lemans was a fun experience, a route was set and a few Dutch, Belgium, French and English owners met up along the way. Whilst stopping at a local petrol station quite some people gathered around the convoy which gave some interesting conversations. That brings us to the winner of the first award, Arve Jakobsson who had driven almost 2500km one way to attend the meeting he received the “road hog award”. The variety of cars was immense, from bone stock to heavily modified for both street and track use. It was very nice to see all the cars and meet their owners. Probably the most unique example is the Honda NSX owned by Wilbert, the car is like you would find it new at the dealership back in the day with under 9000 km’s on the odo meter. He got awarded the “Best of stock”.
Best of show went to Eric, with his well known heavily modified NSX. The attention to detail is amazing.
Joop came to the meeting with his Widebody Acura NSX, which is comptech Supercharged. The car was amazingly fast, on “the closed road” 😉 to Lemans he showed off the sheer power of his car. Which left us no other choice then to grant him the “Best of Performance Award”
The meeting was organized together with www.NSX.ch (The NSX Honda Sportscar club) which has been responsible for in example the “NSX Trophy” back in the days. Jean Claude was a great help in arranging the paddock space and last but not least 2 parade laps on the circuit. For me personally an absolute dream which i can check off my bucket list. It also gave some amazing pictures on track. These can be found in the gallery below.
Some of the owners also participated in the trackday, that was organised together with “The Porsche Club of Geneva”, Lemans is a great and technical track, suitable for both beginning and experienced drivers.
And a picture moment at the famous Lemans 24hr “Dunlop Bridge” absolute unique (and epic) moment,
Line up in the Lemans Pit:
To give you an idea of the parade lap a short Youtube video from the side of my car (sorry for the wind noises): [ba-youtubeflex videoid=”TKBF0WokgNc”] Â Off the track the cars where gathered together on the paddock;
In the afternoon Paul arrived with his amazing Facelift NSX, he was in France for a holiday but had specially arranged for him and his NSX to be there.
Being in Lemans Dimer, Jeroen, Evelien and myself wanted to visit the spot where Allan Simonson tragically lost his life in the 2013 Lemans race. There where loads of flags / flowers to remember this great driver.
In the evening we had dinner with all owners at a local steak house, luckily the conversation piece was easily picked with everybody all being very passionate about their cars. On one occasion a laptop made it on to the table showing  an aerodynamic test movie confusing some people and it’s now referred to as“Sperm the movie” 😉 (click to view).  In the morning we visited the 24hr Museum next to the circuit. This is a must see for every car / racing enthusiast. Great cars and heritage!
